Come Alive Fitness offers highly-trained personal trainers and innovative group exercise programs. With our intimate studio space, we thrive off our classes including bootcamps, spin classes, pilates and yoga.  We are dedicated to quality, service and continual improvement. Our intention is to inspire you to exceed your fitness goals and help you Come Alive!

Annika

As the owner of Come Alive Fitness, Annika is passionate about helping people live a vibrant life.

She started Come Alive Fitness with the intention to create a place where people would not only exceed their fitness goals, but be inspired to go after their dreams!

 

Annika has been working in the fitness field since 1997 as a personal trainer, yoga, pilates, cycling instructor and nutrition consultant. She has been a studio owner since 2003.

 

Her extensive background, combined with her dynamic personality, makes her a popular speaker at running groups, schools and corporate venues, lecturing on topics such as core strength, nutrition and yoga. With a background in sports, Annika has competed in marathons, triathlons and the Lake Placid Ironman in 2004. In 2002 she found Yoga.  It greatly influenced her view of a healthy body and life, and inspired her to seek balance in body and mind.

 

Annika now teaches popular classes such as Spin & Yoga and Pilates/Yoga combo. Her cheery smile and bubbly personality are infectious and motivate those around her to make a change in their life. So take a moment to stop by and meet Annika, or drop into one of her classes today.  You may just find yourself leaving with a smile on your face and new jump on life.  She will inspire you to Come Alive!!

Barb

 

Barb Taylor has been in the fitness industry as a Certified Personal Trainer since 2005, have worked closely with Annika and her team, and is now excited to be a part of Come Alive Fitness! Besides providing high quality personal training programs to her clients, she also teaches a mean Bootcamp class!

 

Barb believes fitness is a lifestyle and is eager to help and motivate her clients to make it just that. Barb's passion is to help her clients reach their personal fitness goals no matter what they are! She is constantly keeping up with her skills and education in the health industry to bring the most effective, safe and fun workouts to all her clients.

 

With a focus on feeling healthy, Barb is always motivated and energized to step out of her own comfort zone with her fitness. Barb has completed half marathons and 5k and 10k runs. Barb embraces her running and has recently taken up cycling, with plans of competing in duathlons.

 

As a mother of two busy girls, Barb knows the importance of a good balance between a healthy lifestyle and equally important, a fun and happy one! When you have your health you have everything!!!!

 

 

Cheryl

After graduating from Ambassador University in Texas in 1995 Cheryl received a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Kilgore College in 1998. As a licensed P.T.A., she gained 6 years of neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitative experience assisting patients in a variety of settings.

 

In 2001, Cheryl combined her skills in physiotherapy with a personal training certification and began working in the fitness industry. While having two active boys, Cheryl realizes the importance of balancing an active lifestyle with family and work.  She enjoys assisting others in finding the same enthusiasm in creating a more healthy and fit lifestyle. 

 

Since moving to Canada in 2002, Cheryl has enjoyed using her experience to provide safe and effective exercise programming to help clients of all fitness levels and ages to reach their health and fitness goals, whether those needs be rehabilitation, improved athletic performance, or simply living a more healthy lifestyle. 

 

Personally, Cheryl enjoys playing in a women’s basketball league, running, strength training and spending time with her family.

Cheryl's qualifications include: B.A.- Ambassador University, Texas Physical Therapist Assistant Degree - Kilgore College, Certified Personal Trainer –  National Strength and Conditioning Association, FMS (Functional Movement Screening) Level 1 & 2 Certified, Certified Kettlebell Instructor - Kettlebell Training Academy.

 

Kristina

 

Kristina graduated from York University with an Honours degree in Kinesiology. She spent the first few years of her career working in a physiotherapy clinic developing programs to rehabilitate accident and workplace injury patients, gaining valuable experience with a variety of assessment tools.

 

In 2001, Kristina began working as a personal trainer with the goal of teaching people to be pro-active instead of re-active towards dealing with their health. Today she places her focus not only on strength and conditioning, but on enhancing her clients’ posture and muscular balance, leading to improvements in their daily life – from greater focus at work to better performance on the playing field.

 

Kristina believes that all good programs start with a thorough examination of an individual strengths and weaknesses; these key assessments are used to build safe and effective exercise programs to help clients of all fitness levels be as pro-active with their health as possible.

 

Kristina's qualifications include : BA Honours Kinesiology–York University, Registered Kinesiologist, Certified Pilates Instructor (STOTT), CPR and First Aid.

 

 

Laura

 

An avid athlete since childhood, Laura embraced fitness as both a lifestyle and a career, and has never looked back!

 

Today Laura offers a unique range of programs for kids and adults, including sport-specific strength and conditioning for soccer, golf, skiing, and hockey; personal training for all fitness level and customized Bootcamps. Her Monday lunchtime Bootcamp has a strong following, so be sure to reserve your spot!

 

Laura believes a healthy body and a healthy mind lead to personal excellence in sports and in life. Whether you’d like to improve your results, or start creating results, Laura has the commitment, knowledge and experience to help you achieve your goals, and keep you smiling in the process.

 

Laura's qualifications include: Certified Personal Trainer (CanFitPro), TPI Level 1 Certified (Golf Fitness Instructor).

 

 

Marsha

 

Marsha Vanwynsberghe is a Registered Kinesiologist with over 20 years experience in the areas of exercise programming and therapeutic exercise rehabilitation. Marsha has extensive experience in rehabilitation for the average person wanting to improve their daily function, up to the elite level athlete trying to rehab through an injury and improve their sports performance.

 

Marsha has a keen eye and attention to the details of biomechanics and physiology, which allow her to assess clients’ movement and design specific programs to improve their issues. Marsha educates them to understand how their body works. She teaches them how to use their muscles properly and how to incorporate movements into their daily lives, minimizing or eliminating pain.

 

Marsha is also a faculty member at Conestoga College in the Fitness and Health Promotion Program, teaching in the 2-year diploma program in the areas of Business and Entrepreneurship for Health Professionals and Therapeutic Exercise and Restoration.

 

Marsha’s qualifications include: BSc. HKin, Registered Kinesiologist, Pilates Mat Instructor, FMS (Functional Movement Screening) Instructor, TPI Level 1 Certified (Golf Fitness Instructor).

 

 

Maureen

Maureen earned her yoga teacher training certification in 2003 from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Lennox, Massachusetts. She has over the past decade taught in many different locations such as schools, gyms, yoga studios, churches, homes and cancer support centers.

 

Maureen brings a calming energy, warmth and humour to all her yoga classes. She believes in creating a safe, non-competitive, fun environment in which to practice. Yoga is a wonderful compliment to any fitness or sports regime so just try it - there is a yoga class and teacher for everyone.

 

If you are looking for a more gentle relaxing yoga class that will really improve your flexibility and reduce your stress levels, Maureen's hatha classes are for you!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sandi

 

Sandi first started her career over 20 years ago in Virginia where she worked as an exercise physiologist in a prestige club. She moved to Kitchener/Waterloo after marrying her husband who she met while attending Ohio University.

 

Throughout her career Sandi has worked as a Fitness Director, Club Manager and trained many clients and taught a variety of fitness classes in the area. She has worked with athletes of all types and levels from junior hockey players to dancers. She has mentored and trained many fitness instructors and trainers throughout the city. Sandi continues to teach and train all types and ages of people. She loves to motivate her clients to become active and try new activities. Sandi encourages them to set goals from healthy eating to running marathons.

 

She strives to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle herself through Pilates and competitive running.

Sandi's qualifications include: Masters Degree Exercise Physiology-Ohio University, Certified Personal Trainer (American Council on Exercise), and Certified Pilates Instructor (STOTT).
